Justice for Workers

Dear Friends,

We are extremely pleased to inform you that the metal workers of Michael Aram Exports, New Delhi, India, along with Shibu Devi, the widow of Ramdev, have been appointed as permanent employees of Michael Aram’s new and operational company, MA Design India Private Limited, Okhla Industrial Area Phase I, New Delhi, effective January 25, 2006.

The workers have been given appointment letters in hand, as well as back wages, bonuses, and other due payments. Michael Aram hopes to put these workers back to work ideally within a revitalized version of their former unit, B156 DDA Sheds, Okhla Industrial Area Phase I, otherwise at an alternative and proximate factory site.

From direct conversations with Michael Aram recently in New Delhi, Justice for Workers believes Michael Aram to be genuinely committed to providing secure and dignified working environments for these workers in their new, future production site.

Due to these very positive developments, and our ongoing commitment to these workers, Justice for Workers will be suspending our petition and letter campaign and rescinding our boycott of Michael Aram goods and products.

We will continue to post updates on the progress towards the resumption of work for these workers.

Thank you to all who have participated in this campaign. And a special thank you to Michael Aram for meeting with the workers, ascertaining their situation, and rapidly remedying their difficulties.

Please continue to send your comments and correspondence to info@justiceforworkers.org

Sincerely,

The JFW Core Team,
